Combat Athlete Training Systems is now featuring the Women's Awareness Self-Protection (W.A.S.P.) program, one of the most comprehensive self-defense programs designed for the modern woman. This course incorporates the most functional techniques to counter attacks that are most common to women with a conditioning regimen to increase strength, power, and energy. The course begins Saturday May 2, 2015 from 12pm-2pm. Space is Limited. You must 18 years or older to attend this course. This course is a partnership between Coach Stephen Nave (Owner, Combat Athlete Training Systems), and Coach Sean Wheeler (Founder, S.A.W. Systems Martial Arts). With over 24 years of experience in martial arts, Coach Wheeler has developed a 4-week course that covers basic striking, techniques to apply from a clinch or grab, efficient ground fighting applications, and counters to assault when there is a weapon involved. This course (once per week, a total of 8 instructional hours) is complemented with two follow-up classes (two 1 hours sessions for the following two month) to ensure maximum skill set retention. This entry course will cover not the what-ifs, but rather, what situations do happen when there is a violent act towards a woman.
What is excellent about the W.A.S.P. training is that we will cover, awareness, pre-fight strategies, recognizing violent body language to attack precursors, what to do if a physical response is called for, with the added and sensible advice that the techniques are unlikely to work unless you spend time practicing them.
We hope to create a truly holistic approach to women’s self-defense education, supporting the necessity of continuous learning in order to provide realistic options in the event of a threatening situation. The program will include educational components comprised of lecture, discussion, and physical attack/resistive strategies.
